Walmart Connector FAQs¶
These frequently asked questions cover the most common setup and synchronization topics for the Odoo Walmart Connector. For a full feature list and sync matrix, see Walmart Connector Features.
Getting Started¶
Yes. The connector works with Odoo Enterprise (On-premise and Odoo.SH) and Odoo Community. It does not work with Odoo Online (SaaS), which does not allow third-party apps.
Two settlement features need the Accounting application from Odoo Enterprise: Auto Reconcile and Auto Process Settlement Report. Everything else works in Community, including reconciling a settlement by hand.
Create a Walmart instance by navigating to , click CREATE, select Walmart as the marketplace, choose your Marketplace Region, and fill in your Client ID and Client Secret. Then use Test Connection to verify. See Create Walmart Instance In Odoo and Generate Walmart API Credentials.
A Client ID and Client Secret, generated in Walmart Seller Center under API Key Management. See Generate Walmart API Credentials.
Open your Walmart instance record and click Test Connection. A confirmation message means your credentials are valid.
Yes. Create one instance per marketplace, each with the credentials for that marketplace. An instance connects to exactly one Walmart marketplace, and credentials created for one marketplace do not authenticate against another.
Marketplaces¶
United States, Canada, Mexico and Chile. Walmart does not offer every API in every marketplace, so some features are limited. See Walmart Supported Marketplaces for the full table.
No. The Marketplace Region becomes read-only once the instance is saved, because it determines the currency, the credentials and the features that apply. If you chose the wrong one, create a new instance.
The Operations popup only offers what your instance can actually do. Two things narrow the list: your marketplace, and your Fulfillment Type. For example, catalog and settlement operations are United States only, and the operations for orders, inventory, tracking and returns are all hidden on a pure WFS instance, because Walmart performs those roles itself.
Walmart does not provide a sandbox environment for Canada. Use Production. The United States, Mexico and Chile all have a sandbox.
Catalog¶
A product type is the specific Walmart category an item is listed under, such as Body Sprays. It decides which attributes Walmart requires for that item. Walmart will not create a listing without one. See Import Walmart Product Types In Odoo.
Importing the taxonomy fetches the product type names. The attributes come from the product type’s specification, which is fetched separately with Import Product Type Specs, or with the Fetch Spec button on a product type. See Import Walmart Product Types In Odoo.
Yes. The banner is a reminder, not a block — you can save now and fill the attributes later. It matters because Walmart rejects a new listing that is missing a required attribute, so exporting before it clears will fail. See Walmart Listing Attributes.
Because it no longer applies. Creating a listing requires every required attribute; updating one does not, as Walmart accepts a partial change and leaves the rest of the item alone.
Products, Price & Inventory¶
By the Sync Listings Based On setting on the instance: Barcode, SKU, or Barcode or SKU. Walmart supplies the barcode as the item’s GTIN or UPC, and the SKU is matched against the Odoo internal reference. Set this to match how your catalog is keyed before your first import. See Sync Listings Based On.
No. Listing import is a manual operation because catalogs are large, change rarely, and can overwrite product data in Odoo. See Import Walmart Listings In Odoo.
Yes, for the United States marketplace. On Canada, Mexico and Chile, create your listings in Seller Center — price and inventory can still be exported from Odoo for every marketplace. See Export Odoo Products To Walmart.
Walmart’s item response does not include images, so there is nothing to import. Add images in Odoo; they are exported to Walmart with the listing.
The one chosen in Stock Based On on the instance: Free To Use Quantity, Quantity On Hand, or Forecasted Quantity. Free To Use Quantity is the safest for marketplace selling because it excludes stock already promised elsewhere. See Export Inventory To Walmart.
Check , where the result is recorded per SKU. Exports are submitted as feeds, which Walmart processes in its own time.
The most common cause is that the Refresh Feed Status scheduled action is not active, so the outcome is never collected. See Walmart Feed Management.
Orders¶
Orders are filtered by the Order Status setting on the Orders tab of the instance, which starts with Created selected only. Add the other statuses you want. Orders created before the Import Order After date are also skipped. See Order Status.
The referral fee Walmart charges you for the sale. It is a seller cost, not something the customer pays, so it is not an order line and is not part of the order total. It is recorded in the Walmart Commission field so you can see what a sale cost you. The same fee appears again as a deduction on your settlement report.
Walmart sends a total tax figure that summarises tax already included in the individual charges. Importing it as its own line would count the tax twice, so tax is applied to each line from that line’s own charge instead.
No. Auto Acknowledge Orders is enabled by default and acknowledges each seller-fulfilled order right after import, which is what Walmart expects. The manual operation exists to catch up on anything missed. WFS orders are never acknowledged. See Acknowledge Walmart Orders.
The delivery order needs both a tracking reference and a carrier, and the carrier must be mapped to a Walmart carrier code. The exact reason is shown in the red banner on the delivery. See carrier mapping and Export Walmart Order Status And Tracking.
Cancel In Walmart only appears once the order is cancelled in Odoo, and only for seller-fulfilled orders that have not yet shipped. Walmart does not allow a shipped or delivered order to be cancelled — use a return and a refund instead. See Cancel Walmart Orders.
WFS¶
This is almost always the Order Status filter. It starts with Created selected only, and Walmart ships WFS orders itself — so those orders move to Shipped and then Delivered on Walmart’s side without Odoo doing anything. If those statuses are not in the filter, Odoo never pulls the updates back.
Add Shipped and Delivered to the filter on any instance that uses WFS. See Order Status.
No. Use a separate WFS Warehouse. WFS stock is physically held by Walmart and cannot be used to fulfill anything else, so mixing the two overstates what you can actually ship and risks overselling on your other channels. See Fulfillment Types.
Walmart does not provide a WFS orders feed for Chile, so those orders cannot be imported. WFS inventory still imports, so you can see what Walmart holds. Follow the orders in Seller Center. See Import Walmart WFS Orders In Odoo.
No. Walmart holds that stock and is the source of truth for it, so the connector imports WFS quantities rather than exporting them. See Import WFS Inventory From Walmart.
Returns & Refunds¶
It depends on the marketplace, and there are two ways:
Refund a return: United States and Mexico.
Refund an order from a credit note: United States and Canada, seller-fulfilled orders only.
Where neither applies, refund in Seller Center. See Issue Walmart Refunds From Odoo.
The return is matched to its sale order by the Walmart purchase order number, falling back to the customer order number. If the order is not in Odoo, the return is not created at all. Import the order first, then re-run the return import.
Enter a Received Quantity on the return lines first — only lines with a received quantity greater than zero are brought back into stock. This is deliberate, so you receive only what actually arrived. See Import Walmart Returns In Odoo.
Settlement¶
The United States only. On other marketplaces the Settlement tab and the import operation are not shown.
Auto Reconcile requires the Accounting application from Odoo Enterprise. In Odoo Community, use the Reconcile button to match the lines in Odoo’s standard bank reconciliation view. See Reconcile Walmart Settlement Reports.
Import the Walmart order into Odoo, and make sure its invoice is posted. Then reconcile again.
Feeds & Automation¶
Yes. Processed means Walmart finished working through the feed, not that every item succeeded. Always check Items Failed, then open the Feed Lines page to see which SKU failed and Walmart’s reason. See Walmart Feed Management.
The scheduled actions are created inactive on purpose, so the instance does not start talking to Walmart before you have finished configuring it. Open the Automatic Jobs tab and switch on the jobs you want. See Automatic Jobs.
Turn on Refresh Feed Status, without which no export outcome is ever collected, and Import Orders. If you hold your own stock, also turn on Export Product’s Inventory — stale stock on Walmart leads to overselling and cancellations.
Troubleshooting¶
Verify your Client ID and Client Secret, and use Test Connection.
Confirm the Marketplace Region matches the credentials.
Check the feature is available in your marketplace — see Walmart Supported Marketplaces.
Confirm the relevant scheduled action is active; they are created inactive.
For exports, open and check the result per SKU.
Review for error messages.
