Getting Started

What does the DPD Ireland Connector do?

It connects Odoo to DPD Ireland. It creates shipments, generates shipping labels and lets you track parcels from the delivery order. This cuts manual work and speeds up your deliveries.

Where can I ship with this connector?

You can ship across the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Mainland UK and the EU.

Does the connector fetch live shipping rates from DPD Ireland?

No. DPD Ireland does not offer live rate calculation. You set your own prices instead, with a delivery method that uses DPD Ireland with Fixed Price or DPD Ireland with Based on Rules. This gives you full control over what your customers pay.

Can I connect more than one DPD Ireland account?

Yes. You can connect and set up multiple DPD Ireland accounts in the same Odoo database.

Is there a test environment?

No. DPD Ireland provides only the Production environment. If you try to switch to a test environment, the app shows the message Restricted! DPD Ireland provides only the Production environment.

Setup

How do I connect my DPD Ireland account to Odoo?

1. Create a shipping partner record for DPD Ireland.

2. Enter your DPD Ireland User Name, DPD Ireland Password and DPD Ireland Basic Token.

How do I set up a DPD Ireland delivery method?

1. Create a delivery method and choose DPD Ireland with Fixed Price or DPD Ireland with Based on Rules as its provider.

2. Set your fixed price, or add your pricing rules.

3. Set configured DPD Ireland shipping partner.

4. Open the DPD Ireland Configuration tab.

5. Set the Service Option, Service Type, Label Type and Default Package.

6. For international shipments, also set the Shipment Type and Shipment Incoterms.

Which service options are available?

The Service Option field offers:

• COD (Cheque on Delivery)

• PDS (Premium Document Service)

• RR (Return Receipt)

• SW (SwapIt)

• N (Normal)

Which service types can I choose?

The Service Type field offers:

• Overnight

• Saturday Delivery

• Timed

• Special

• Cancelled On Arrival

• Two Day Service

Which label formats are supported?

You can print labels as PDF or ZPL (Zebra). Choose the format in the Label Type field of the delivery method.

How do I set up packages for DPD Ireland?

Create a package type and choose DPD Ireland as its carrier. Then select it as the Default Package on your delivery method. If you ship an order in several packages, use the Put in Pack operation on the delivery order.

How do I set up international shipments?

On the delivery method, set the Shipment Type to Merchandise or Documents. Then set the Shipment Incoterms:

• DAP - Receiver pays duty

• EDAP - Sender pays duty

The connector prepares the customs data automatically, such as EORI numbers, incoterms, commodity codes and invoice details. This helps your parcels clear customs without hold-ups.

Can I add extra insurance to my shipments?

Yes. Check Extra Insurance on the delivery method. This requests extra insurance for shipments sent with that delivery method.

Daily Use

How do I get a shipping rate on a sales order?

Select your DPD Ireland delivery method on the sales order. The rate comes from your fixed price or your pricing rules.

When is the shipping label created?

The connector creates the shipment in DPD Ireland and generates the label as soon as you validate the delivery order. The tracking number and labels appear on the delivery order, with the message Shipment created into DPD Ireland!.

How do I track a shipment?

Open the delivery order and click the Tracking button. This opens the DPD Ireland tracking portal, where you see the status and location of the parcel.

How do I send a return?

On the return delivery order, select the delivery method having appropriate return service option, click Print Return Label. The connector creates the return shipment in DPD Ireland and shows the message Return Shipment created into DPD Ireland!.

What is the DPD Return Description field for?

DPD Return Description on the delivery order describes the returned item. The SW (SwapIt) service option uses it.

Troubleshooting

Why do I see "DPD Ireland does not support live rate calculation"?

Your delivery method uses DPD Ireland as its provider, which has no live rates. Switch it to DPD Ireland with Fixed Price or DPD Ireland with Based on Rules.

Why do I see "Error: DPD Ireland is not available for this address"?

DPD Ireland cannot be used for the delivery address on the order. Check the address, or choose another delivery method.

Why do I see "User not authorized" or an authorization error?

DPD Ireland did not accept your login. Check the DPD Ireland User Name, DPD Ireland Password and DPD Ireland Basic Token on the shipping partner. Then click Generate New Access Token.

What do "DPD Ireland HTTP error", "DPD Ireland request error" or "DPD Ireland returned invalid or empty XML" mean?

The request to DPD Ireland failed or DPD Ireland sent back no usable reply. The HTTP and request errors include the details of the problem, so read the full message to find the cause.
