Step 3: Allowed Models, Fields & Domain Filters
Security and data restriction rules are configured directly inside Odoo for each connection account. By setting up the Allowed Models & Fields notebook tab, you control exactly which models, fields, and filtered datasets a Google Sheet is authorized to read or write.
The User set on the connection account is the outer limit. The Google Sheet can only see and change data this user can access in Odoo. All rules below work within this limit.
Access Control Matrix
Configuration |
Access Behavior / Result |
|---|---|
No Model Line Configured |
Access to all models and fields the selected User can access. |
Model Set, No Fields Selected |
Access limited only to the selected model; all fields of that model are open. |
Model & Specific Fields Set |
Access limited exclusively to the selected fields of the specified model. |
Domain Filter Configured |
Only Odoo records matching the domain rule are exported to Google Sheets. |
Configuring Model Lines & Domains
Open your connection account in .
Under the Allowed Models & Fields tab, click Add a line.
Select the target Odoo Model (e.g.,
Sale Order). Only models the selected User can access are offered. If the User cannot access a model in the list, Odoo shows an error when you save, so remove that model or choose another User.In the Allowed Fields column, select allowed fields using the tags widget. Leave it empty to allow all fields.
In the Domain Filter column, use Odoo’s visual domain builder widget to specify criteria (e.g.,
[('state', '=', 'sale')]).Click Save.
Important
Domain filters act as a strict server-side firewall. Even if a spreadsheet user requests all records, Odoo enforces the domain rule and returns only matching records.
