Configure Chronopost Connector¶
This document provides a complete step-by-step guide to configure and use the Chronopost connector in Odoo. Once the connector is set up, you can fetch live rates, create orders, generate shipping labels, track shipments, and cancel them directly from Odoo.
Let’s begin with the configurations.
Configure Shipping partner¶
To configure a Shipping Partner in Odoo, navigate to and click on New.
The environment is managed on the shipping partner and is applied to every delivery method linked to it. To activate a Shipping Partner in the Production Environment, click the Test smart button at the top of the form. After doing so, the smart button changes to read Production.
Shipping Partner Configuration¶
Name: Choose a meaningful name for your account (e.g.
Chronopost).Partner: Select Chronopost.
In the API Credential section, enter the identifiers provided by Chronopost. Chronopost uses a separate account number, password, and sub-account number for each environment — only the fields for the active environment are shown:
Chronopost Test Account Number / Chronopost Test Password: used while the shipping partner is in Test Environment.
Chronopost Account Number / Chronopost Password: used once the shipping partner is switched to Production Environment.
Chronopost Test Sub-Account Number / Chronopost Sub-Account Number: optional — only needed if your Chronopost contract uses a sub-account for that environment. Leave at
0otherwise.
Note
Validate your workflow in the test environment before switching to production for live orders. Contact your Chronopost representative to obtain or certify your account credentials.
Configure Delivery Method¶
Click on Delivery Methods and then New, or navigate to and click on New.
Fill in the main fields of the delivery method:
Delivery Method: Choose a meaningful name for the delivery method (e.g. Chronopost).
Shipping Partner: Must select a shipping partner which you configured for Chronopost.
Delivery Product: Select or create the product that represents the shipping charge on the sales order line.
In the Chronopost Configuration tab, fill out these fields:
Content Type: Whether the parcel contains Merchandise or Document.
Label Format: The format in which Chronopost returns the shipping label — PDF (with proof of deposit, A4), PPR (with proof of deposit and nearby pickup points), SPD (without proof of deposit, A4), THE (thermal printer, A4), THE1015 (thermal printer, 10x15), THEPSG (thermal printer, A4 landscape), or ZPL300 (ZPL, 300 dpi).
Default Package Type: The Chronopost package type whose weight and dimensions are used when generating the parcel.
Delivery Service: Normal, Delivery on Monday, or Delivery on Saturday (the last two only apply to national products).
Shipper Civility: The title (Mrs, Miss, or Mr) used for the shipper’s identity on the Chronopost label.
Mode Retour: Whether Chronopost also e-mails a copy of the label to the shipper, or makes it printable at a Post Office.
Tip
Delivery Methods can also be accessed by going to .
Note
If the Delivery Methods option is not available from the Configuration drop-down menu, verify whether the feature is enabled by following these steps:
Go to .
Scroll to the Shipping section and enable the Delivery Methods feature by checking the corresponding checkbox.
Use Delivery Method In Sale Order¶
To add a shipping cost to a Sales Order, click the Add shipping button on the sale order and select the Chronopost delivery method.
Shipping Method: Select the Chronopost delivery method you configured.
Total order weight: Odoo calculates the order weight from the selected products, or you can enter it manually.
Get Rate: Click this button to fetch a live price for every Chronopost product eligible for this shipment.
Each eligible Chronopost product is listed with its code, description, and total charge. Click Add to order on the row of the product you want to use — the price and product are stored on the order, and the shipping charge line is added.
Use Delivery Method In Website Order¶
If you use Odoo eCommerce, customers can select Chronopost and one of the eligible Chronopost products directly during checkout.
Configure Delivery Order¶
After confirming the sale order, process the delivery order in the Inventory app.
Multiple Parcel Handling¶
When an order ships in several boxes, use the Put in Pack operation to organize the products. Each package is registered with Chronopost as a separate parcel with its own weight and dimensions.
Tip
To split shipments into multiple packages with the Put in Pack operation, enable the Packages feature in .
Select Carrier and Get Rate on Delivery Order¶
Carrier: Choose the Chronopost delivery method you configured.
Chronopost also lets you fetch or refresh the live rate directly from the delivery order — click Get Rates next to the Carrier field.
Pick the product you want with Add to order, the same way as on the sale order.
Validate Delivery Order¶
Click Validate to create the shipment in Chronopost and generate the label.
Tracking and shipping information in delivery order¶
Once the delivery order is validated, the shipment is registered with Chronopost and the tracking and label information is recorded on the delivery order.
- After validation:
The Tracking Reference (skybill number, one per parcel, comma-separated for multi-parcel shipments) is generated and a message listing it is posted in the chatter.
The Chronopost Reservation Number returned by Chronopost for the shipment is recorded on the delivery order.
The Chronopost Rated Product — the product code you picked with Add to order during Get Rate — is also recorded; it is the product code actually used to build the shipment and label.
The Shipping Label is attached to the delivery order chatter. When an order ships in several parcels, all PDF labels are merged into a single document.
Realtime Tracking¶
Click Tracking at the top of the delivery order to open Chronopost’s own tracking page in a new tab.
Note
Tracking opens Chronopost’s own tracking page in a new tab; the delivery status is not synced back into Odoo.
View Generated Label¶
Shipping labels are automatically generated in the chosen format and attached to the delivery order.
Shipment Cancellation¶
You can cancel a registered Chronopost shipment directly from Odoo. Open the delivery order and click Cancel next to the Tracking Reference. Odoo sends the cancellation request to Chronopost; on success, a confirmation is posted in the order chatter.
Note
Cancellation is only possible starting about 10 minutes after the skybill was created by the shipping service. If the parcel is already in transit, Chronopost refuses the request and Odoo shows the error returned.
